Robert Lucander’s works often deal with the “incomprehensible,” the stories behind the images that inspire him; the boundaries between object and painting are fluid in his work. He combines elements from everyday culture to create dynamic compositions. In playing with figuration and abstraction he is perfect. Lucander experiments with colours and surfaces and often uses wood as a carrier material for his paintings.

For Rohkunstbau the artist was inspired by the current football world championship. By kicking paint tins out of each corner of the room, their content spilled out over the entire floor. The colours blended into a multicoloured action painting. This colourful floor painting is complemented by several canvases that Robert Lucander produced especially for this exhibition.  Spilling paint is a way of expressing protest, destruction and defiance and the beginning of something new: inspiration, revolution. These radiant colour stripes evoke winding paths, and the act itself is reminiscent of throwing paint bombs, protests, radical actions or presence. Getting rid of fear, which impelled Siegfried to go new ways in Wagner’s “Ring”,  forces independence and frees oneself from the elusive aegis of the Mimes.
